Recent Acquisitions :)

Due to the strict budget of late I've tried to really minimize my spending. I've done lots of looking but very little actual purchasing. I have really been making an effort to "shop my closet" and put together new outfits while figuring out those items I really want and could use in my closet. However, I have found a few really great deals lately that I had to share. Ironically they have a theme: purple! Its no question I love purple :) especially since I both my undergraduate and graduate school have purple as a school color!

J. Crew Minnie Pant in Deep Orchid
We all know my love for the minnie pant and being an extra 40% off this week in final sale, I just couldn't resist. I've actually bought this pant before and returned because the color is VERY vibrant. However, I've regretted that return ever since. So I told myself if they went on sale I would get them again. So this week I took the plunge and ordered them. Normally, I don't order anything final sale, but knowing that they will fit and I like the look of them I was ok with it being final sale. Between them being on sale and the extra 40% these were super cheap! They are sold out online now though :( but you could probably call CS and find them in a store if you want!
The Limited Tank
I found this tank yesterday while browsing the mall before work and its so awesome! Perfect WCU colors, I am so excited about it! And its currently on sale! Its $22.00!!!! Super flattering too! I can't wait to wear it :)

What have you bought lately? Are you excited about Fall rollouts happening soon?
p.s. Rumor has it that J. Crew is rolling out some pre-fall stuff tomorrow!!! EEKK!!

Night fishing, wedding planning, and everything in between..

This past week has been pretty busy. I feel like my life is always busy in all honesty. We are always traveling, always on the go. I enjoy it but at the same time its nice to just stay at home some days. These next few weeks will be nonstop traveling so this week I plan on laying around, being lazy, and doing some planning for the upcoming school year. We have our first dept. meeting on the 24th so I'm pretty excited about that!

This weekend Ben and I went to spend time with his family in Knoxville and on the lake. It was fun to see everyone! We took Annie swimming in the lake, oh boy does she love to swim! We can't get her into the bathtub without a fight, but take her swimming and she doesn't want to get out of the water :) It must be the lab coming out in her! I also experienced my first night fishing trip. Unfortunately, it wasn't a successful trip to say the least..we didn't catch anything and the boat broke down and we had to be towed in. Oh well, the views on the water were still great! I'm excited to try it again sometime.

Ben and I have been doing some wedding planning (and life planning as well) and while we were thinking spring, we've decided to push it back to late summer. This will give us more time to budget and plan so that everything is the way we want it. As much as I want a nice wedding, I've had a hard time wrapping my head around the idea that I am spending a lot of money for only one day. I know its a once in a life time and we deserve a great time, but still its a LOT of money. I'm excited about it, but I still feel like a penny pincher.

On another note, have you heard this song? Its my new favorite!
Have a happy Monday!

Hello July!

I have never been so happy to see a month go by. June was a terrible month for me, I'll spare you all the details but essentially if it could go wrong, it went wrong. So far July is looking a lot better! Thank goodness!!!

These last few weeks have been busy, busy, busy. But there have been lots of exciting things going on!

1. I found out my teaching schedule for the upcoming school year! Yay! I'm teaching one section of Physical Science, and the rest are CP and Honors Chemistry :) A very good schedule if you ask me! The next couple weeks will be super busy with planning! I bought a new lesson plan book for this year yesterday (I feel like such a teaching nerd considering how exciting I was about purchasing it)

2. I got to see my new classroom and lab! I also found out who the neighboring teacher is and she is new like me and super cool! Its going to be so fun! I have a friend already!

This is what a Chemistry classroom looks like during the summer!
Empty!! And super clean!!

My beautiful lab!
3. I've been catching up with my little via email! Woohoo, I've missed her terribly since she has been at sea. But through email we have been staying in regular contact!

4. I bought this skirt on super sale a J. Crew the last time we were in SC. I was so proud of the great deal I got on it, Ben made fun of me but it was on sale, plus an extra 30% off! And its awesome, I feel so good wearing it. I rocked it with a chambray shirt yesterday to work at BR and I got so many compliments.

No. 2 pencil in double serge cotton, neon pink color
5. I've been lazy these past few weeks, and its been awesome. I'm appreciating sleeping in late because in a few weeks this girl will be up waaaaaaaay too early in comparison to what time I get up now lol.

Happy Tuesday!!!

Sweet Saturday

After a rough week I decided I needed a little pretty in my life and have been perusing pinterest, tumblr, and some of my favorite blogs and putting together some of my favorite things. I've really come to enjoy the quiet moments where I can sip my coffee and look at beautiful things. After months focused on grad school, teaching, and spending every day surrounded by the world of science its nice to have a change of scenery for the mind.

One of the things I've noticed is how much I adore Olivia Palermo's style. I don't know much about her background (nor do I really care.) But I do know that I love some of the outfits she puts together.

This is my favorite! I wish I looked this good walking Annie!

These are some of my favorite outfits that I came across, a few of them are from a Lucky magazine feature on Gossip Girl I stumbled upon. I used to watch the show (for a love of the clothes) but I haven't in a long time, I have no clue whats going on with it now. Grad school and teaching leave very little time for tv!

This outfit looks so comfortable,
yet so stylish and put together.
The whole look is amazing.

A Gossip Girl look, so preppy!

Love the boots! And the color scheme!

How I wish I looked every day!

And finally a few of my favorite things! I love these booties, I believe they are Chanel.  I adore a colorblocked shoe. These would look great with anything!

Last but not least, the classic Chanel flap bag. If I could only buy one bag and carry it for the rest of my life it would be this one. One day I will own one. It is a personal goal. I love my LV bags, but this one would be my all time favorite purchase!

Have a great Saturday!!!

Style Inspiration

Just a little style inspiration to brighten up your day! As I have been trying to restrict my shopping habit (due to a particular wedding happening next year :) and Ben and I are working towards buying a house sometime next year as well) I have been cruising the internet for inspiration to motivate me to shop my own wardrobe and remix what I already have. These are a few of my favorites thus far!

so totally doable with my closet!

I can't say I would wear this whole outfit
but I would love it broken up

LOVE LOVE LOVE!

I seriously need to find a cute pair of booties!
I've been searching forever and cant find ones I like!

Once again the ankle booties!!
And I love her hair!

perfection.

I would give my right arm for
 Zooey D's closet.

Happy Tuesday everyone!!!

Sunday Funday! A post of randomness!

Things I'm loving right now....

Summertime!!! I am in love with all this warm weather, as a cold natured person I live for summer!! If its below 70 I think its freezing so all these 80+ temps days make me very happy. I am so glad winter is over! I am not a winter person at all. I like for about two weeks and then I'm ready for it to go away!

Iced Coffee. Its such a great way to start the day. I am a coffee fanatic anyways, but during the summer months I'll make a pot of coffee and put it in a pitcher in the fridge so that its there whenever I want it. Plus, I don't have to worry about ice watering it down!

Baseball games. I am not a big sports fan, but I do love going to Minor League games. We go to games in Greenville when we are there and we've started going to them here in Chatt Town. There is nothing better than summer nights watching the baseball game with a cold beer. We've been going with one of my besties and her husband since the season started and its such a good time!

Farmers Markets. I adore wandering around the local markets and checking out the goodies. Plus, there is always good people watching! We are going to the Sunday market this afternoon and I excited to see what they have, especially since the theme is "strawberry festival." And I do love strawberries! Its one of my all time favorite foods!

Pure Barre. Recently I started going to Pure Barre classes as a way of getting back in shape and because I was bored fitness wise. I have looked at countless gyms, etc. to try and find something that interested me and nothing grabbed my attention. Then I stumbled across Pure Barre classes. There is a studio here in town and I've really enjoyed it so far. I actually look forward to going to work out. As I keep doing it I'll be sure to post a better review of it.

Well, I am off to make a late breakfast :) and to get ready for the day! Have a wonderful Sunday!

p.s. This is one of my new favorite songs!

Life is.....crazy!

Life is ridiculously crazy lately. Like so many things happening at one time...but in a good way!

I am officially a graduate of Clemson University!!! WOOHOO for my Masters degree.

So now my official title is Miss KMB, M.A.T.

And in the fall it will be Miss KMB, M.A.T., Chemistry Teacher- CHS

So in case you haven't figured out my riddle....

One, I have officially accepted a job teaching Chemistry at a high school in SC. Yes, in SC. As hard as I tried I couldn't find the teaching job wanted in TN :( Boo for that!!!! So please say prays that the whole long distance thing gets sorted out in the fall. I'm am being faithful in that God put this position in place for me and he is going to sort out all the details. (which doesn't help my type A, anxious personality one bit!!) But none the less I am trying my best to not get overwhelmed by it. Its not only a job, its my dream job and I am very excited about it!!!

Two, We are engaged!!!! After over three years of dating, living together, and having a dog we are headed to the next big step! Getting married!! I am beyond excited!!! It was so unexpected and perfectly wonderful! Every day I get more and more excited because I know I am marrying my best friend and soul mate! Plus, I get to plan a fabulous party and celebrate with my favorite people.

Also, since its now summer vacation (although I plan on working some lol) I can now get back to regular posting!!! So be excited I have lots of goodies to share from style and fashion, to my new workout routine, to wedding stuff!!! YAY!

1 week to go....

Its been a month since I wrote my last blog post. And what a crazy month its been! Life has been full of so many up's and downs, smiles and tears- all to get to this place. My last week of student teaching and graduate school! Thursday is my last day at the high school and my graduation is on the 11th. Boy does it feel good to be able to say that!! I finally did it!!! I'm getting my masters degree! Woohoo! And you better believe I have an awesome dress for graduation :)

So, I am sure you all have been wondering what I've been up to in the last month.....

-Enjoyed my third Carolina Cup! It was an adventure to say the least road trip wise. And it was so much fun! I got to spend time with some of my favorite people at one of my favorite events!

-Got to spend time in ChatTown for my spring break! I got to enjoy a whole week of being lazy and spending time with Ben and Annie. It was pure heaven.

-Spent a fun weekend in Knoxville with Ben's family for Easter. Its always a good time seeing everyone!

-Completed my portfolio and did my Master's presentation.

-Wrapped up my final unit for student teaching and gave back my kiddos to my Cooperating Teacher.

-Saw one of my best friends get married!

After this next week I hope to get back to blogging on a regular basis.

Top Ten Part Two!!!

Ok so finally here is part two!!

6. My Blackberry. Yes I know its possible to survive without it, but I can't imagine doing so. I fall under the category of its my "crackberry." I love it, it keeps me connected to family and friends. Its how I stay in constant contact with my little and Ben. Being away from both of them is hard and no fun at all but thanks to my BB I can text/call/email whenever I need to! Since I decided to go to grad school at Clemson and Ben got his job in TN I have used my unlimited minutes and texts as much as possible to stay close to Ben being four hours away. I miss him terribly but knowing I can always talk to him makes it much easier!

7. Satellite Radio. I LOVE IT! Due to being in a long distance relationship I spend a lot of time in the car. Hours and hours in the car. And lets be honest ordinary radio sucks. Ben has had satellite in his Jeep for awhile and we had the docking station in the house so I got spoiled by it, and luckily my wonderful boyfriend got me one for my car this past Christmas! Boy oh boy do I love it!!!!! I hardly ever listen to regular radio anymore. My favorite stations are: Alt Nation, Hits 1, The Highway, Prime Country, and 90's on 9!

8. My little sister Danielle. She is my best friend and my Phi Mu sister! I love her dearly and am so happy she is my little. We are super duper close and her being so far away stinks but I am proud of her and what she is doing in the Navy. Luckily for us we have skype, facebook, and phones to keep us connected. Its quite strange being so far away from someone I saw every day. We were always a close big-little pair, but living together made it even better! Our little apt was the best place ever! She is such an important part of my life and it wouldn't be the same without her!

9. Annie. I love that little dog so much! Ben and I adore her. She is the sweetest, prettiest, happiest dog in the whole world. I can't imagine not having her around. She brings such joy to my heart when I come home and she is all excited to see me! Adopting her was a great decision and I don't regret it one bit! I am so happy we were able to give her a home! (I can't imagine why someone would be mean and cruel to that precious dog! It makes me angry to think about Annie being mistreated!)

10. While its #10 on my list (I guess I should have counted down..) its really the one thing I cant live without. My wonderful, darling boyfriend Ben. He is my everything. The best part of my life. The past three years with him have been amazing and I am lucky to say I get to spend the rest of my life with him. I don't think he realizes how amazing he is, but believe me I know! Every day with him is a blessing and I'm looking forward to May when I can go home and be with him every day!

10 Things I Can't Live Without- Part 1

1. My Michael Kors Watch
I wear this watch every single day! I bought it last year as a birthday present to myself. It has proven to be a timeless, classy investment. Yes it was a little pricey but purchasing it during Belk's charity day + birthday money made it not break the bank. I wear it so much that I feel weird when I forget to put it on in the morning. I am lost during the school day without since it helps me pace my lessons to make sure I stay on track throughout the day.

2. My Louis Vuitton Speedy 35 and Alma Bag

Yes I am a bag snob. I admit it and I'm ok with that. I love Louis Vuitton and Dooney & Bourke. They are my two favorite handbag brands. Not because of the labels, because of the quality and timelessness of the bags. My louis's are my favorite bags of all time and probably my best consignment finds ever! Thats right they are from consignment stores!!! Authentic, vintage LV for a fraction of the cost. However, if you are going to buy LV in a consignment store make sure you are aware of what makes a bag authentic to ensure that you are not buying a fake. There are great resources online to help you find what you should look for. Also, make sure you have a lot of patience. It requires a lot of it to find the right bag, quality and price when your looking in consignment stores.

3. Black Flats
I love these shoes. I have actually had 2 pairs of these exact shoes. I essentially wear them to death and replace them. They are inexpensive, comfortable and lest forever! I also have a pair of black flats with a quilted pattern and patent cap toe that I wear all the time to school, however, those are about to bite the dust :( i'll be super sad when I finally have to say they are completely worn out (which will probably be in about a week). I have found that it is simply impossible to live without a pair of simple black flats. They go with just about everything, are easy to shop for, and easy to wear. Throw on jeans, a cute top, and black flats and BAM! Easy, quick outfit when you don't have time to figure out what to wear (or your feeling lazy.

4. Mascara
I have not always been an avid mascara wearer, but recently I realized how much of a difference it can make in how I look and feel. I have been going through a period of trial and error to find the right one for me. I have sensitive eyes when it comes to eye shadow and mascara and a lot of mascara's don't work for me. I think this is one of the reasons why I haven't been a big fan of wearing it. However, I read A LOT of fashion/beauty magazines/blogs and I noticed that one mascara kept being mentioned over and over again- Christian Dior's Diorshow. So one day in Sephora I finally bit the bullet and tried it (it helps that Sephora's return policy ensured that I could bring it back if it bothered me.) What a difference a good mascara can make! I wear glasses daily and I noticed how much it made my eyes pop even if I wasn't wearing any eye make up at all.

5. Urban Decay's "Naked 1" Eye Palette

There is a lot of hype about this eye shadow palette. And by a lot, I mean A TON of hype. There are countless reviews and mentions about this palette. It is so popular that a lot of time it is sold out at Sephora and Ulta. Urban Decay even came out with a Naked 2 palette in addition to the first one. I recently bought it (along with my Diorshow mascara) and I have to say I really like it. Its a lot of nuetral shades, which are great for school and the colors go great with each other so I can easily experiment with different combinations. I haven't always been big into neutrals and brownish shades but I'm falling in love with them through using this palette.
